The Watermead Inn

If you're ever in Aylesbury and find yourself craving comfort food, a well-poured pint, or just a cozy corner to unwind, The Watermead Inn is worth a stop. Nestled by the scenic lakeside at 10 Watermead, Lakeside, Aylesbury HP19 0FX, this charming local spot has carved out a reputation for more than just its beautiful view.

Let’s start with the vibe. The Watermead Inn strikes that sweet spot between relaxed pub and lively dining hub. Whether you’re rolling in solo for a quick bite or meeting friends for a weekend dinner, the atmosphere is welcoming and unpretentious. Accessibility is clearly a priority too-with wheelchair-accessible parking, entrances, seating, and even restrooms. That thoughtful touch makes the place inclusive for everyone.

Now, let’s talk food. The Pulled Pork Burger is a standout-it comes stacked with juicy, slow-cooked meat, slathered in tangy sauce, and loaded with cheesy chips if you’re feeling indulgent. The Sizzling Chicken Fajita also has a fanbase of its own, arriving at the table hot enough to turn heads with its aroma alone. Craving something hearty on a Sunday? Their Mixed Roast brings all the classics together, and it’s a go-to for locals who swear by it.

Other must-tries include the Sirloin Steak, which comes cooked just right, and the Full Rack of Ribs, which is fall-off-the-bone tender. Vegetarians aren’t left out either-dishes like the Camembert and Capricciosa Pizza bring the same level of care and flavor. And for those late-night cravings, their Cheesy Chips with Pulled Pork hit just the right spot.

Drink-wise, The Watermead Inn really shines. The beer selection is impressive, with East Coast IPA being a favorite on tap for those who enjoy a bold hop. They’ve also got a great wine list, a solid cocktail menu, and even Old Mout Cider for those who prefer something fruitier. Coffee lovers are also in for a treat-both the Latte and Cappuccino here rival what you’d find in any high-street café. Plus, the dessert game is strong: their Chocolate Brownie is rich, fudgy, and best paired with your drink of choice.

It’s also a great spot if you're into watching sports-TVs are usually tuned to the big games, creating an upbeat energy without overpowering your meal. Outdoor seating by the lakeside adds another layer to the experience, especially in the warmer months when you can enjoy the breeze and view while digging into a plate of Chicken Wings or a Classic Burger and Fries.

Whether you're in for lunch, dinner, or just a quick pint with mates, The Watermead Inn offers something that feels both familiar and fresh. They serve alcohol, spirits, small plates, and even late-night food-perfect for everything from casual midweek dinners to lively weekend meetups. With both dine-in and delivery options available, you’ve got flexibility no matter what your plans look like.

What really makes this spot stand out, though, is how well it blends quality with comfort. It’s not trying too hard-it just is a genuinely good place to eat, drink, and hang out. From their signature Inn Burger to the generously portioned Coleslaw side and that dependable Burger and Chips, it’s clear this isn’t just a random pub-it’s a local favorite for a reason.

If you’re planning your next meal in Aylesbury or just browsing for a great spot to chill out, The Watermead Inn is definitely worth checking out.

The food was good but the service could be better. Really polite and bubbly but a bit slow, perhaps due to new team or shortness of team members. Needs to improve a bit more in regards to cleanliness and tidy. Overall a positive experience for a first time.

Love the food here, recommend the Korean chicken burger - the Garlic and Parmesan fries are delicious! A lovely place to eat and drink in the summer. Took a star off because it does need a bit of a spruce up as well as could update their ordering system for sitting outside, ordering at the bar when you sit outside is fairly outdated now

Really nice, unexpected stop for dinner. Unfortunately, at 4.20pm, there were a few items missing from the menu. Although what we ordered was good.

Nice location next to a lake with swans, geese & gulls. Nice pint of Madri with warm, friendly service. £16.95 Double smashburger really delivered on flavour and texture and the garlic/Parmesan fries were fantastic! Thoroughly enjoyable lunch…

Our first night relocating to Aylesbury and it was the champions league final so of course we had to come and check the pub out! Great atmosphere, everyone was enjoying themselves. We had dinner and a few drinks, we were sat in the corner but we never felt forgotten about, the staff were very attentive and chirpy and happy! The food and drink was great, I can't fault our night! :)
